Public Affairs

Rhizome Media continuously monitors Government and regulatory policy for a number of its clients, ensuring they stay abreast of any and all changes — fiscal, legislative or corporate — that could impact or empower their businesses. When required, we also actively lobby Government on behalf of a number of our clients, with probably our biggest success to date being the 'Raise the Roof' campaign on behalf of property- and flat-sharing website, Spareroom.

Rhizome Media monitors Government and regulatory policy for a number of its clients, ensuring they stay abreast of any and all changes — fiscal, legislative or corporate — that could impact or empower their businesses. We also actively lobby Government on behalf of a number of our clients, with probably our biggest success to date being the 'Raise the Roof' campaign on behalf of property- and flat-sharing website, Spareroom. In 2015, the then Chancellor, George Osborne, announced that from April 2016 the Government would increase the tax-free amount home owners could earn by renting out a room from £4,250 to £7,500 — a significant financial boost for anyone with a lodger, and a policy materially influenced by Rhizome's work on the Raise the Roof campaign.

Media Training

Many of Rhizome Media's clients regularly appear on national TV and radio, where they have the chance to show off their expertise. Of course, if you've never done it before, having a camera thrust in your face and being interviewed live on Sky News can be hugely daunting. With this in mind, Rhizome's CEO and broadcast guru, Jack Izzard, who reported the US elections from the White House for the BBC in 2008, provides bespoke courses to ensure you interview and 'bridge' like a pro.

One of our key goals has been to dispel the jaded, and frankly anachronistic image that car dealers are all Arthur Daley types with forecourts chock full of bangers and lemons.Through a combination of authoritative industry pieces, speedy responses to important monthly sector data and features and opinion pieces in the national and consumer media, our job is to distinguish and elevate the importance of the AA Cars brand in its own right.Recent proactive campaigns have swung between the heavy-hitting (the bearing of car finance deals on the longevity of ownership) and lighter (fastest selling used cars of 2020) ends of the scale, all the while placing AA Cars at the centre of the conversation around car buying and selling.

For both of these flagship divisions, we set the news agenda with proactive analysis and research, and also comment reactively to breaking news.It's a rapid and intense news sector and so we're often up at 7am drafting comment on industry stories. While the news changes daily, our role remains the same: to break everything down into digestible, comprehensive and compelling copy that always seeks to answer the question: “What does this mean for consumers?”
