Finally. We’ve FINALLY reached the end of the first week back at work after Christmas and the New Year. It’s been difficult, but I’m glad to say we all managed to pull through.
There were several stages to our struggle. First came denial. I know I’m not the only one who buried their head under the pillow when the alarm clock woke me from my blissful slumber on Monday morning.
Next came frustration – including, but not limited to, anger directed at the tube and our fellow commuters; cursing the WiFi when it momentarily fails on us; and weather-related fury.
Then there was confusion: I briefly forgot how to transfer a call, and Jonny was so disorientated he came into work wearing 2 t-shirts…although the jury’s still out on whether that was just a fashion statement.
And then there was pure, simple exhaustion – the amount of caffeine consumed in the office has tripled, and the week felt so long that several of us couldn’t even remember what day it was.
Our expertise here at Rhizome extends to social media as well as PR, so we spent some time trawling through the #backtowork hashtag on Twitter, and it looks like we’re not the only ones who’ve had some difficulties jumping straight back into our usual routines. Deezer UK, Radio X, and ASOS didn’t seem to be coping too well either…
It’s good to know we’re not alone – thanks guys.
